Education is the ever blooming flower within the soul; we just have to nurture it. Education not only illuminates an individual but his surroundings also. Education builds up the backbone of an enriched society.
Basic education is a polestar which enlightens the way of becoming a reverent person who will have both individual and global values, who can put an impact on economic development, on social issues as well as on the personal sphere.
The history of basic education is related to the principle of Nai Talim which is promoted by Mahatma Gandhi. The phrase 'Basic Education for all' portrays the core relationship of knowledge and work.
Education should be career-oriented. Otherwise the prosperity of the society becomes sloth. The three principal traits are 'lifelong character of education', its 'social character' and its 'global form'.
The tutelage of basic education has five aspects:
To indulge the desire of knowing. If a person doesn't have the hunger of knowledge - the positive curiosity of exploring everything, education would be futile to him.
To listen carefully, to read intensely and to write with a natural flow.
Have to understand the inner profundity of a thing which the person is learning, not just to gobble and digest with a cold indifference.
Have to think logically and analytically.
Most importantly, have to apply the knowledge in a real base with a broad perspective.
Primary and secondary educations are basically the basic educations which are basic necessities for all. The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act or the Right to Education Act (RTE) helps in strengthening the pillar of basic education for all. If a child gets education, the society will be as fit as a fiddle. Here a 'personal initiative' can touch the 'universal blossom'.
Poverty and Basic Education:
Illiteracy is a great social malice which is the root of poverty. Poverty means not only the scarcity of wealth, but sometimes symbolizes the lack of good mentality also. Education actually helps to create a great human being, rubs off all kinds of poverty from society.
Why is Basic Education so important?
To set society free from the deleterious illiteracy and make it able to fight against poverty.
Can stand against all kinds of deprivations.
The ability to read and write opens up various kinds of doors to free a creative mind.
Manners, proper behaviour, etiquette can enrich one's personality.
Can express opinion in a sensible way, can analyse personal matters, even social issues or other topics on different fields logically.
Economy is the base of a society. Education assists to make a better economy which will help in an individual's prosperity as well as in social growth.
To add colours to the intellect, it sharpens the quality of leadership; it helps to understand the value of individuality, the value of society, the value of a nation. It assists to cope with global issues.
To live a healthy life in every way possible. Education enriches the cultural flavour too. To make oneself confident and respectful towards the outer world.
Basic education is not only the basic bookish knowledge, but the basic moral values as well. These moral values come from home, from the family, and these make a child's mental set up, these make the outset of his entire life.
It sows the seed of humanity in the blank page of a child's mind. A good human being comes from a good environment, a good family (exception is rare). So the initial school of basic education is nowhere but his own home.
