Mental
illness is very common and can implicate anyone but there is always a stigma
attached to it.This stigma creates a barrier in seeking help and support.Mental illness goes equally in part just like physical ailment.The stigma
encircling mental health keeps people away from imploring for help.
Psycho.
Weird. Mental. Sicko. Crazy.These terms have become mundane words nowadays. We
all have been questioned someday or the other, Are you a psycho? Are you insane
or what? These terms are often been using by people randomly as an indirect
mode of insult and to stigmatize people with mental problems. Using these
words, we fail to realize that we might be hurting people who are in need of
any mental support or might be mentally disturbed.People who are been
called psycho, weird, mad, sick and such
psychologically used words randomly, shall ignore and start making such people
realize the need to stop pronouncing such terms.
Mental
problems stems from many factors like stress, anxiety, feelings of loneliness,
sorrow, conflict in interpersonal and intrapersonal relationships, grief,
traumatic experience, improper childhood upbringing, social factors like
negligence, disliked and so on the list continues. Now all these factors some
or the other are responsible for a number of mental disorders like Depression,
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Mood Disorders like Manic Disorder,
Mania Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Personality Disorders, Psychotic Disorders,
Substance Abuse, Eating Disorders, Schizophrenia and so on.
If
you start to feel that your emotional health is starting to affect you, it may
be time to reach out for additional support.
You can reach to an expert such as a psychologist or psychiatrist and
find the support you are seeking.Now there lies the fear of feeling
embarrassed to prevaricate something you don't want to share or feel you will
be judged.This misconception is needed to be discarded. Every one of us faces
situations which are not shareable and keep within own self or suppress .
These
are responsible for disturbing your mental health which might become severe in
later years. So, it is very important to overcome your fears and do seek help
from experts for your own healthy well being. Mental illness can be treated
with a variety of effective ways such as cognitive-behavioral therapy,
interpersonal therapy and other therapeutic means.
Lastly,
mental health should not be considered something of being ashamed of. If it is
treated equally just like physical illness, people will be more susceptible to
accept easily and open up to empower opportunity for a better life.Positivity
can boost your confidence and self-esteem.It keeps stress at bay. You must be
confident with your abilities, which makes you win over many unprecedented
troubles. You can take vital decisions, whenever you get into any dilemma.Try
to focus on the good things.Your
attitude towards life should be Carpe Diem.You shine the brightest when you're
authentic to yourself to revitalize and rebuild you.
